vince young sucks

Vince Young sucks. It is beyond me why people think he's the next great thing in the NFL. Let's take a look at his rookie season stats: 12 TDs, 13 INT's, 51.5% completion... good enough for a QB rating of a whopping 66.7. Sure, let's give him the rookie of the year. Sure, he made a few good plays, but a few good plays does not warrant a rookie of the year award. Then there's 2007. Through 13 games he's completing 62% of his passes, but he's thrown just 9 touchdowns compared to 16 int's, for a QB rating of 70.1. People say he's a "winner", he got the ROY award because he's a "winner". Please. Tennessee's defense had more to do with that team's record than Vince Young does.

Also, Carlos Silva just signed a 4 year contract with the Seattle Mariners worth $48 million. How in the f does a guy with a 13-14 record and a 4.19 ERA get $12 million per year? I'm seriously debating quitting my job and throwing all my time into making it to the majors. I'm thinking I could at least win 25% of my games while keeping my ERA under 9... that's gotta be good for at least a few mil per year.

random thoughts

I'm bored. Right now I'm at the orthopedic doctor's office (blogging from the BlackBerry). I'm here because my shoulder sucks and is painful pretty much all the time. The Doc just told me I might have a torn tendon in my shoulder, so he's scheduling me for an arthrogram MRI. (I guess they're going to inject some dye into my shoulder to help find the tears) Fun! Whatever, I just want to get this thing fixed, hopefully by softball season!!

MLB releard the Mitchell Report yesterday. Nothing in it really surprised me, but for some reason it was still shocking to read that report. The most shocking name of all was Roger Clemens. I'd long suspected him of cheating, I mean just take a look at his career and the numbers he put up later in his career. Very similar to Bonds' career path. Anyway, this report just furthers my dislike for MLB. I think Bud Selig is a joke. And I don't understand how a company that makes $6 billion in 2006 can't come up with a reliable test for HGH and the like.

edit again: I just got back from getting the MRI. That sucked. Well, the actual MRI didn't suck, but having needles shoved into my shoulder socket sucked a whoooole lot. In a couple days I'll finally find out what's wrong with my shoulder. I can't wait!

Last night I deposited eight buy ins on Stars for $.10/.25 NL. Eight buy ins is not nearly enough to feel comfortable with. I'm willing to deposit more, I just hope I don't have to. Anyway, things did not go so well last night, I lost 2.5 buy-ins in approximately 45 minutes. I don't think I played very well at all. I felt awkward and lost in spots that were probably not all that difficult to me last year around this time. Maybe it's rust, maybe I'm just not a very good player. After speaking with a friend of mine, I'm starting to think it's the latter. I call too much. I play the cards. Bad and very bad. At some point I stopped playing poker and just started playing the cards that were dealt to me. I need to get out of this habit ASAP. Last night I jumped right back into two tabling, pretty sure that was a mistake. I've decided to play one table only until I feel I'm crushing the game... it's been a while since I've felt like that. I'm not sure how long that will take, but I'm hoping that I have the discipline to follow through with that plan.
Blah. I don't feel very well this morning. I think I'm going to take a half day today. Hopefully I can get home and relax for a little bit and then hit the tables. I doubt I'll go out tonight, hopefully I can stay in and get in a few hundred hands while turning a profit. Time to get serious about my game, because it's borderline pathetic right now. Not acceptable.

first post... again

I created a poker only blog a few months back, but then poker became not fun so I quit playing. When the poker stopped, so did the blogging. (I'm pretty sure the blog was the reason I ran so poorly and eventually stopped playing)

I occasionally read some blogs (Drew, Nat Arem, John Mayer, Dolfan's Unite [haha]) and decided I wanted my own blog. I'm hoping this won't turn into a poker only blog. (oh yeah, I'm going to try and get back into poker. More on that later.) I'll attempt to jot down a few entries each week about random thoughts and happenings. Not necessarily because you care, but because I think it'd be interesting to read this blog a few years from now. Actually, you probably do care, why else would you be here?
